Ingredients
For the strawberry simple syrup
- 1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
For the lemonade
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 5-6 lemons)
- 3 cups cold water
- 1/4 cup strawberry simple syrup (adjust to taste)
For the spritzer
- 1 bottle (750ml) chilled Prosecco, sparkling wine, or champagne
- Ice
- Fresh strawberries and lemon slices, for garnish
Instructions
1. Make the strawberry simple syrup
- Combine strawberries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan.
- Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the strawberries soften.
- Remove from heat and let cool completely. Strain out the strawberries.
2. Make the lemonade
- In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice, cold water, and strawberry simple syrup. Stir well and adjust sweetness to your liking.
3. Assemble the spritzers
- Fill glasses with ice.
- Pour the lemonade mixture halfway up each glass.
- Top with your choice of Prosecco, sparkling wine, or champagne.
- Garnish with fresh strawberries and lemon slices.
Tips
- For a mocktail version, use sparkling water or club soda instead of wine.
- Experiment with other berries like raspberries or blueberries for the simple syrup.
- Add a sprig of fresh mint or basil for an extra flavor boost.
- Make a large batch of the lemonade base ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator.
