Yields: 2-3 servings
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Blend Time: 2-3 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 cups mixed frozen berries: (Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries – use your favorite combination)
- 1/2 cup white rum: (Or use your preferred rum variety)
- 1/4 cup simple syrup: (See instructions below)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice: (About 1 lime)
- 1 1/2 – 2 cups ice
Simple Syrup Instructions:
- Combine: Add 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar to a small saucepan.
- Heat: Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
- Cool: Remove from heat and let cool completely before using.
Slushy Instructions:
- Combine ingredients: Add frozen berries, white rum, simple syrup, lime juice, and 1 1/2 cups of ice to a high-powered blender.
- Blend: Blend until smooth and thick. If the mixture is too thick, add a bit more ice. If too thin, add a few more frozen berries.
- Taste and adjust: Give it a taste. Add more simple syrup for sweetness, or lime juice for extra tang.
- Serve: Pour immediately into glasses and enjoy!
Garnishes (Optional):
- Fresh berries
- Mint sprigs
- Lime wedges
Tips
- Make it a mocktail: Skip the rum for a delicious, refreshing non-alcoholic version.
- Get creative: Try other frozen fruits like mango or pineapple with your berries.
- Store extra simple syrup: Leftover simple syrup can be stored in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks – it’s great in cocktails and iced tea!
