Mediterranean Lamb Burgers with Bruschetta Recipe

Ingredients

For the Burgers

  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (gluten-free if needed)
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Bruschetta Topping

  • 2 ripe Roma tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Also these:

  • 4 burger buns (brioche buns are delicious!)
  • Optional toppings: Sliced red onion, arugula, tzatziki sauce

Instructions

1. Make the Bruschetta

  • Combine ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine chopped tomatoes, basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix well.
  • Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

2. Make the Lamb Burgers

  • Combine burger mixture: In a large bowl, gently combine ground lamb, breadcrumbs, feta, mint, parsley, olive oil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Don’t overwork the meat, or the burgers will be tough.
  • Form patties: Divide the mixture into four equal patties, slightly larger than your buns.
  • Create an indentation: Make a shallow indentation in the center of each patty. This helps them cook evenly and prevents them from puffing up.

3. Cook the Burgers

  • Preheat grill or pan: Preheat a grill or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook patties: Grill or cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for your desired doneness.
  • Rest: Let the burgers rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute.

4. Assemble the Burgers

  • Toast buns: Lightly toast the burger buns.
  • Assemble: Place a cooked burger on the bottom bun. Top with a generous spoonful of bruschetta. Add your favorite toppings, like red onion or arugula. Drizzle with tzatziki sauce if desired. Finish with the top bun.

High-quality meat: Use good quality ground lamb for the best flavor.

Customize it! Feel free to add other Mediterranean-inspired ingredients like chopped kalamata olives or a sprinkle of pine nuts.
