Lighter Bacon Cheeseburger Dip Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 4 slices of turkey bacon, cooked crisp and chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup shredded reduced-fat mozzarella cheese, divided
  • Chopped fresh chives or green onions (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  • Prep work: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch pie plate or a similar-sized baking dish.
  • Cook the ground beef and bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and crumbly, and the onion is softened. Drain off any excess grease.
  • Season the meat: Stir in the salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Create the creamy base: In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and Greek yogurt until smooth.
  • Combine the dip: Add the seasoned ground beef mixture, 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese, and 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese into the cream cheese mixture. Stir until well combined.
  • Bake: Transfer the dip to your prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Bake and Finish: Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Garnish and serve: If desired, garnish with chopped chives or green onions. Serve warm with your favorite dippers like whole-wheat crackers, vegetables (celery sticks, carrots), or toasted whole-grain pita wedges.

Tips:

  • Make it spicier: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a small diced jalapeño with the onions for a bit of heat.
  • Mix up the cheese: Try using different cheese combinations like sharp cheddar, pepper jack, or Colby.
  • Serve it hot: For a party setting, you can transfer this dip to a small slow cooker on the “warm” setting after baking to keep it gooey and delicious.

Enjoy your lighter, healthier bacon cheeseburger dip!
