Yields: 1 serving
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- Milk: 1 cup of your preferred milk (whole milk, oat milk, almond milk, coconut milk all work well)
- Turmeric: 1 tsp ground turmeric OR 1-inch piece of fresh turmeric, peeled and grated
- Cinnamon: ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- Ginger: ½ tsp ground ginger OR a ½-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and grated
- Sweetener: 1-2 tsp honey, maple syrup, or your preferred sweetener (adjust to taste)
- Black pepper: A small pinch (helps with turmeric absorption)
- Vanilla extract: ½ tsp (optional, but adds depth)
- Additional spices (optional): Pinch of cardamom, nutmeg, or cloves
Instructions (Warm Version):
- Combine spices: In a small saucepan, whisk together milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, and sweetener.
- Heat gently: Place the saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk frequently until the mixture is steaming hot but not boiling (about 3-5 minutes).
- Add vanilla: Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract (if using).
- Strain (optional): For a smoother texture, strain the latte through a fine-mesh sieve.
- Froth (optional): Use a frother, whisk vigorously, or blend briefly to create a frothy top.
- Serve: Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy!
Instructions (Iced Version):
- Follow steps 1-3 above.
- Cool: Let the latte mixture cool completely.
- Pour: Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour in the cooled latte.
- Enjoy!
Tips:
- Fresh vs. ground spices: Fresh turmeric and ginger offer brighter flavors; use ground if fresh isn’t available.
- Spice customization: Feel free to adjust the spices to your taste preferences.
- Make it creamy: For a creamier latte, use a dollop of coconut cream or a splash of heavy whipping cream.
