Yields: 2 servings
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Blend Time: 1-2 minutes
Ingredients:
- 3 cups vanilla ice cream (High-quality ice cream will give you the best flavor and texture)
- 1 cup frozen strawberries (You can use fresh strawberries if in season, but make sure they are hulled and sliced)
- 1/2 cup milk (Start with less, you can always add more)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Whipped cream and fresh strawberries for garnish (optional)
Equipment
- Blender
- Tall glasses
Instructions
- Combine ingredients: Add the ice cream, frozen strawberries, milk, and vanilla extract to the blender.
- Blend: Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy. If it’s too thick, add a bit more milk. If too thin, add a bit more ice cream.
- Taste and adjust: Give your milkshake a taste. Add more strawberries for a stronger strawberry flavor or a little sugar if you’d like it sweeter.
- Serve: Pour the milkshake into tall glasses. Top with whipped cream and a fresh strawberry (sliced in half) for garnish, if desired. Serve immediately with a straw.
Tips & Variations:
- Fresh strawberries: For the best flavor, use fresh strawberries when they’re in peak season. Make sure they are ripe, hulled, and sliced.
- Other berry options: Experiment with blueberries, raspberries, or a combination for a fun twist.
- Vegan version: Use your favorite vegan vanilla ice cream and plant-based milk (almond milk, soy milk, etc.)
- Extra creamy: Add a scoop or two of strawberry ice cream for even more lusciousness.
- Sweetness: Adjust the sweetness to your liking. You can omit adding extra sugar and rely on the natural sweetness of the strawberries and ice cream.
- Make it a malt: Add a tablespoon or two of malt powder for that classic diner flavor.
