Yields: 1 small loaf
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water (100-110°F / 38-43°C)
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (or vegetable oil)
Equipment:
- Easy-Bake Oven
- Easy-Bake Oven baking pan
- Small bowl
- Fork or spoon
- Measuring cups and spoons
Instructions:
- Mix the dry ingredients: In the small bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Stir with a fork to mix them well.
- Add the wet ingredients: Pour in the warm water and the melted butter (or vegetable oil).
- Stir the dough: Use the fork or spoon to stir all the ingredients until a sticky dough forms. Be sure to scrape the sides of the bowl to get everything mixed.
- Let it rest: Cover the bowl with a clean dish towel and let the dough rest for 10 minutes. This gives the yeast a little head start.
- Preheat the Easy-Bake Oven: While the dough rests, turn on your Easy-Bake Oven and preheat it according to the package instructions.
- Shape the loaf: Lightly flour your hands and a work surface. Turn the dough out onto the floured surface and gently form it into a small loaf shape. It doesn’t need to be perfect!
- Bake: Carefully place the loaf of dough into the Easy-Bake Oven baking pan. Slide the pan into the oven and bake according to the oven instructions. Baking times can vary, but it should be done in 15-20 minutes. Check for doneness by poking the top of the bread. It should feel firm and spring back to the touch.
- Cool: Carefully remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for a couple of minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack or plate to cool completely.
Tips:
- Check your yeast: Make sure the yeast is fresh and active. If it doesn’t foam slightly in the warm water, it may be old.
- Don’t overmix: The dough should be just barely mixed together—it will be a little rough and sticky.
- Oven Safety: Always have an adult help you with the Easy-Bake Oven while it’s in use!
Enjoy your delicious, homemade Easy-Bake bread!
