Ingredients:
- 3-4 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs if you prefer)
- 1 1/2 cups BBQ sauce (Use your favorite store-bought brand or try a homemade version)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
- Prep the slow cooker: Lightly spray the inside of your slow cooker (Crock-Pot) with cooking spray for easy cleanup.
- Combine the sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add chicken and sauce: Place the chicken in the slow cooker and pour the sauce mixture over the top. Toss the chicken so it’s well coated.
- Slow cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours. The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and shreds easily with a fork.
- Shred the chicken: Remove the chicken to a cutting board and shred it using two forks.
- Return to the sauce: Place the shredded chicken back in the Crock-Pot with the sauce and stir to combine. Let it cook for an extra 15-20 minutes for the flavors to meld.
- Serve: Enjoy your delicious BBQ chicken on buns, in sandwiches, over rice, or with your favorite sides!
Tips:

- Adjust the sweetness: Vary the amount of brown sugar based on your preference for a sweeter or less sweet sauce.
- Extra spice: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes if you like a kick.
- Serving suggestions: Serve with hamburger buns, coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans, or mac and cheese.
