Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (or regular paprika)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
Instructions
1. Combine the spices: In a small bowl, thoroughly mix all the spices.
2. Use for your taco meat: Brown approximately 1/4 to 1/3 pound of ground beef, chicken, or your favorite taco protein. Drain any excess fat.
3. Season and simmer: Add your spice mix to the cooked meat along with about 2-3 tablespoons of water. Stir to combine and let simmer for a minute or two to allow the flavors to meld.
4. Build your tacos: Use the seasoned meat to fill your favorite taco shells, top with your favorite toppings, and enjoy!
Customization
- Heat level: Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes or add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a spicier kick.
- Smoky flavor: Use all smoked paprika for a richer, smoky flavor.
- Sweet touch: Add a tiny pinch of brown sugar for a hint of sweetness.
Storage
- Store any leftover seasoning mix in a small airtight container or jar in a cool, dark place. It should last for several months if stored properly.
