RCF EVOX 12 Review: Is It The Right Choice For You?

I’ve been looking for a new portable speaker to replace my old one. I’m not sure if it’s because of the quality of the speakers or if it just got too old and I need a new one. Either way, I was really excited when RCF EVOX 12 came out!

It has great sound and is pretty durable as well. It also charges pretty quickly which is something that’s important to me since most speakers take forever to charge and then die on you before you even use them all up. If you’re in the market for a new speaker, this might be perfect for you. Read more below about what makes this speaker so good.

Types Of Speaker Systems

Before we get into what makes the EVOX 12 so good, let’s discuss what types of speakers there are. There are two main types of speakers: passive and active. Here are some details of them.

Passive Speakers

As the name implies, passive speakers require no power outside of amplification. It’s simply a speaker that you plug into an amplifier or audio source and it will play the music. This is what you usually see in homes or cars. They are typically more affordable since they do not require extra components to work.

Active Speakers

Active speakers are equipped with their own power source which can be batteries, an AC adapter, or both. This allows the active speaker system to have more control over its sound output compared to passive systems. This is the type of speaker that RCF EVOX 12 falls under.

Things To Consider Before Buying A Speaker System

As a music enthusiast, you’ve probably been through the process of buying a speaker system a few times already. While many people treat the purchase as a simple one-time upgrade with no consideration given to future requirements or usage patterns, there are actually a few things you should take into account before making your next speaker purchase.

Here’s a quick guide that should help you understand what the different aspects mean and which ones matter most to you.

Where you use the speakers

A common mistake that people make is to neglect this step entirely, and just go out and purchase the speaker system that they think sounds best. The result is usually a messy stack of different pieces all hooked up together in your living room. Not only does this look bad, but it’s also a hassle to integrate into your setup, and you may even lose access to some ports on your receiver. Put in a bit of research and consider where you plan to use the speaker system, before buying.

Portable Ability

The term “integrated” is used when manufacturers combine two or more components into a single product. For example, a set of speakers may come with a Bluetooth receiver which means that only one power cable needs to be plugged into the wall outlet. A system that’s not “integrated” would have a separate Bluetooth receiver which you’d have to place near your TV or speakers.

The price range for speaker systems is wide anywhere from a few hundred dollars up to several thousand. While you should always set a budget before going shopping, don’t let price be the only factor that guides your decision. There are some great deals to be had for low-budget speaker systems, and there may also be a fantastic high-end product that’s worth the extra money.

Speaker placement

It goes without saying that the quality of music you hear will be dependent on where you place your speakers. A common mistake is to put them near a TV or in corners, which are notorious for causing echoes and bad sound. If you’re not sure about where to start, look up some online guides on speaker placement. Speakers that come with feet are particularly helpful, as you can raise them up to “toe-in” towards your chair.

Virtual surround sound

Stereo speakers generally sound great when placed correctly, but may be unable to deliver the same sense of immersion that comes with multiple speakers. This is because each speaker emits audio into specific areas that cover the entire room, and the best way to achieve this is with multiple speakers placed far apart. While you can try placing your speakers very close together for better imaging, most experts agree that an actual surround sound system is more practical.

Some speaker systems come with remotes, which allow you to switch between different inputs. Remotes are especially helpful if you have multiple devices like a DVD player, game console, and streaming box hooked up to your TV. Look out for speaker systems that don’t require cables for this purpose – they allow you to change the input using buttons on the actual speakers themselves.

Extra features

There are many things manufacturers build into their products just to make them seem more impressive. Many people fall for gimmicky features like flashing lights, but don’t lose sight of what really matters when it comes to speaker systems: sound quality. Speakers that come with Bluetooth receivers will play music from any device you own, and those without can be connected via a 3.5mm jack or an RCA cable.

RCF EVOX 12 Portable Array Powered Active Speaker System Review

The RCF EVOX 12 has a compact design and can be easily carried to wherever you need it. This powerful speaker is designed for vocal clarity, giving the best possible sound quality and projection in live settings. The RCF EVOX 12 is powered by six full-range neodymium speakers and a 15 inch woofer which delivers an astonishing 1,400 watts of power with 130 dB max SPL. It also has a frequency response of 40 Hz to 20 kHz which makes it versatile enough for almost any setting.

The best feature is the highly efficient transducer technology that caters to your sound requirements. The size can be deceptive because it not only looks good but also sounds great for any occasion. It has an internal power supply with a DC output of 21 to 32V and less than 7A continuous current which makes it ideal for long hours use.

The output power is measured in watts. For example, the speaker at 600 watts when used with a 350 watt amplifier will produce the equivalent of a 12dB boost. This can cause an oversized amp to “clip” or distort the speaker’s cone movement, which reduces its overall efficiency and power handling capability.

A small PA system using an 8-inch speaker should be powered by no more than 100 watts, while a 12-inch speaker should be limited to 500 watts. For best sound quality and safety, buy your speakers from a reputable dealer that specializes in PA systems.

It’s not as loud as you would think by looking at it. But, if you want an affordable system that sounds great without any wires, this is the way to go. Compared to RCF Evox 12, I would recommend it for a house of worship with a smaller budget.

The sound quality is just superb and you don’t have to worry about the volume being too loud so it’s perfect for small venues where you want to have a nice concert-like setting. On top of all this, there’s no denying how convenient it is to be able to control your music with just your phone or tablet, which you can do through the app that allows for Bluetooth streaming. The only downside I would say is how it can be difficult to hear yourself speak when everyone else is speaking, which is common among many PA systems unfortunately.

– Difficult to hear yourself speaking when others are speaking

– Heavy weight may be difficult for some people

RCF HD 32-A MK4 12" Active Two-Way Speaker Powered Monitor, Black
  • 1400 Watt 2Way Peak Power
  • Classd Biamplification, Smps

This RCF speaker is a clear winner. The sound quality is exceptional and it does have a wide dispersion. It can hit a very high volume without causing distortion and it also has a great weight to it. It’s easy to mount to the wall and the bass is clear, even at high volumes.

I bought this speaker for my basement and it works great with a sound system I have down there with an amplifier. The RCF is light enough that I was able to mount it up on the wall myself, but if you’re not too familiar with working with speakers or won’t be hanging something that requires specific tools then you might want to have a professional come install it for you.

– Excellent sound quality

– can hit a very high volume

– Solid weight to the speaker

– Easy to mount to the wall or ceiling

– May require professional installation if you don’t have experience with speakers or mounting them on walls

Methods Of Maintaining RCF EVOX 12

The RCF EVOX 12 is well-made and designed for years of use. The manufacturer has incorporated a lot of features that will help protect it from damage. Still, there are certain things you can do to keep your speaker in top shape long after purchase. These methods have been proven by professional technicians who work with the product every day. Follow these tips closely and you’ll be able to enjoy your new speaker for many years.

Keep It Clean

Dust is one thing that can really affect sound quality, especially if it gets into the grilles or vents on the front panel where the drivers are. Avoid this by keeping the speaker out of dusty areas or putting it into storage after use, then using a can of compressed air to clean it thoroughly before taking it back onstage.

Warm It Up

RCF EVOX 12 speakers have aluminum voice coils, which need time to warm up so they can come to optimum performance levels. Make sure to turn on the speaker before any performance, let it heat up for about 20 minutes, then power it down again.

Avoid Temperature Extremes

Don’t leave your RCF EVOX 12 out in very cold or hot climates if possible–extreme temperatures can affect the sound quality and even damage components inside. Always keep the speaker out of direct sunlight, too.

Don’t Let It Dry Out

Moisture can affect the sound quality of your speaker quickly, so avoid letting it get wet (for example, if you’re onstage and rain starts to fall). If this does happen accidentally, let the speaker dry out thoroughly before trying to use it again.

Take It Slow

If you’re transporting your RCF EVOX 12, be sure to pack it carefully and place it in the proper storage case. Handle it with care so that nothing is bent, dented or otherwise damaged. Moisture-resistant cases are often the best choice.

Be Careful With The Cables

Because you’ll be plugging and unplugging cables frequently, take care that they don’t get damaged by snagging or catching on the speaker–this can cause damage to connections, which can affect sound quality. Take your time when connecting and disconnecting them, and avoid yanking the cable out of the jack.

Relative Questions

– How do I mount RCF EVOX 12 to the wall or ceiling?

Assuming the speaker comes with a hardware pack, there are two main ways to mount your RCF EVOX 12. The first is that you can use “pitch screws” or “wall studs”, which involve drilling into a wall and attaching this piece of equipment to the backside of the speaker. Alternatively, if you’re just attaching it to a drywall ceiling, then plastic expansion anchors will secure it nicely. Make sure to use the correct tools for the job.

– How do I connect the speaker to an amplifier?

RCF EVOX 12 has both professional XLR and 1/4″ TRS inputs, so it’s suitable for direct connection with most line mixers or home amplifiers. Just plug in, switch on your system and you can play straight away!

– What is the recommended wattage per speaker?

The most common wattages for a single RCF EVOX 12 speaker is within the range of 300W-600W. In case you need to know how much power your speakers use, just multiply their wattage with 2 and you’ll have the amount of electricity that they require.

– Can I use a wireless connection with my speaker?

RCF EVOX 12 can be connected using an XLR cable to a mixer/amplifier, so you have the option of using a wired connection. In case you need to work wirelessly, there are two options for this: UHF and Bluetooth. They both have their own advantages and disadvantages, so just choose the one that suits your needs best.

– How do I know if my speaker is working?

Always make sure to plug in RCF EVOX 12 before switching it on. There’s no LED indicator for this particular model. If you see no lights or hear no sound when powering up, check your input connections first. If that doesn’t help, it’s best to seek professional assistance for this sort of issue.

– How do I know if my amplifier is working?

RCF EVOX 12 speakers require a minimum of 300W per speaker (600W for stereo setups). Make sure you buy the right size and type of power amp for your needs. If the amplifier doesn’t have enough power, you won’t get any sound. Also, check your input connections.

– How loud is a speaker?

RCF EVOX 12 speakers offer up to 132dB SPL. This means that the sound they produce is pretty much as loud as it can possibly be. If you want to compare this number with everyday sounds, 130 dB SPL is about the average volume of a rock concert or a subway train passing before your home.

– How do I connect multiple speakers?

RCF EVOX 12 speakers have balanced inputs and outputs, which means that you can easily connect two or more of them to work together in a stereo or surround setup. If you want to control the volume independently for each speaker, make sure you get yourself a mixer with appropriate channels (2 would be fine for stereo, 6 or more if you’re working in surround).

– Can I connect a subwoofer to this speaker?

RCF EVOX 12 has a limit of 132dB SPL, so the only possible option is adding an active subwoofer . The best way to use both speakers together is by connecting them with an appropriate mixer.

– What are the main differences between RCF EVOX 12 and RCF EVOX 18?

RCF EVOX 12 has a smaller cone size and can produce less low frequencies. It’s suitable for small rooms or if you need your speakers to play quietly. By adding an active subwoofer, you can easily turn it into a full-size PA system. On the other hand, RCF EVOX 18 is larger and has a bigger cone, which makes it better suited for playing at higher volumes.

– Can I connect my instrument to this speaker?

RCF EVOX 12 has a 1/4″ TRS input, so plugging in your instruments or microphones should be no problem. For connecting instruments with passive pickups, use the included DI-box. Make sure you check the type of instrument cable that you’re using, as some instruments have a specific polarity which will result in no signal being produced by your amplifier. If that’s the case with your setup, just flip the pins inside the 1/4″ jack and it should work just fine.

Here is a video about differences between RCF EVOX 8 and RCF EVOX 12.

Final Thoughts On The RCF EVOX 12

If you’re looking for a new speaker system, the RCF EVOX 12 is definitely one of the best available. It’s well made and designed to give you excellent sound quality, even in smaller venues where other systems might not fit or perform as well.

This model has more than enough power for outdoor events, but it won’t cost you an arm and a leg for budget applications either. The speaker is well-protected from damage by design, with all the components carefully protected so your investment can stand up to years of use. If you can afford to invest in your sound system then this is definitely a great choice.
